New state-of-the-art instrument for dissolved oxygen measurement

July 2001
Palintest's new waterproof DO meter is a state-of-the-art instrument for dissolved oxygen measurement. The device is typically used to monitor oxygen in natural waters, fish farming, the control of sewage and effluent treatment plants and in the laboratory measurement of BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand).
Oxygen in the test solution passes through a thin, permeable membrane to the sensor elements: a glass-encapsulated platinum cathode and a silver wire anode. A built-in thermistor sensor is included for temperature measurement and automatic temperature compensation from 0 - 50 °C. Dissolved oxygen is measured in the range 0.00 to 19.99 mg/litres (0-199.9 percent oxygen saturation).
The microprocessor controlled, battery operated meter takes only minutes to calibrate and uses a simple push-button operation with the probe placed in saturated air. A large LCD screen displays the dissolved oxygen result in mg/litre or percent air saturation, and temperature. The meter is supplied with probe electrolyte solution, spare membranes, a carry case and a 3m probe cable.
