New Home Pool And Spa Meter

December 2004
Water Pool test specialist Palintest has developed an easy-to-use, multi-parameter photometer for simple, routine monitoring of domestic spa and pool water. The state-of-the-art photometer is available online from www.palintest.com. It measures disinfection control and pH electronically, and is an affordable, more accurate alternative to test strips and visual colour blocks.
Home pools, spas, hot tubs and whirlpool bathtubs can provide a fertile breeding ground for microbes. Disinfectant levels and pH need to be regularly and accurately monitored. The photometer makes testing of chlorine or bromine levels simple, along with pH and, optionally, alkalinity. Unlike conventional systems, results are not dependant on personal visual judgement or lighting conditions.
There are no powders or liquids to spill. The tests are based on long-life, foil-packed reagent tablets that are all conveniently stored along with two test tubes and a crushing stick within the instrument. They are safe and easy to handle and ensure precise results.
The tests are quick and simple to perform. A reagent tablet is mixed with a water sample, the test tube is placed in the instrument and the test selected with a menu button. Colour measurement is carried out electronically at the press of a button and the precise concentration of the chemical in the water is instantly displayed on a direct reading, two digit LCD display.
The chlorine version of the instrument measures within the 0.1-5.00mg/l range. The bromine version measures the range 0.1-9.9mg/l. pH is measured between 6.8 and 8.4, and the optional alkalinity test measures the range 10-500 mg/l. Blank readings are simply taken with a press of the ‘B’ button.
