Some wastewater tests in the Tubetests system contain small quantities of reagents classified as ‘special waste’ by the Special Waste Regulations 1996. Palintest is a registered Special Wastes Contractor and Special Waste Carrier. This enables us to collect and dispose of special waste under the control of a regulated Environment Agency consignment note procedure. Tubetests requiring regulated disposal are for Ammonia, Nitrate and COD (chemical oxygen demand).
Tubetests enable wastewaters to be tested for compliance with the Urban Wastewater Directive without the need to make up and dispense liquid reagents or use laboratory equipment. All the test chemicals are supplied pre-measured and pre-mixed in disposable glass test tubes. When a water sample is added to a Tubetest it produces a colour change and the parameter under test is measured by a photometer which gives a direct-reading on an LCD.
