Faster Chlorine testing with latest hand-held meter

August 2000

The latest version of Palintest's hand-held Chlorometer 1000 will almost instantaneously measure the level of chlorine disinfectant in cooling system water and in chlorinated solutions used to clean food and beverage process equipment.

This new, faster meter has updated software with intelligent self checks for maximum reliability in use. It delivers instant readouts, has longer battery life and an extended operating temperature range.

The Chlorometer is used with the universal DPD colorimetric test reagent system supplied as foil-encapsulated tablets. Once a tablet has been dissolved in a 10 ml water sample in a glass test tube, it takes just a few seconds to insert the tube in the meter, press a membrane keypad and observe the reading displayed in mg/litre on a 10mm LCD. An intelligent sensing system will detect dirty or damaged sample tubes that could affect accuracy.

Chlorine is measured in the 0 - 5.00 mg/litre range with a resolution of 0.01 mg/litre. In addition to measurement of ‘free’ chlorine, other DPD reagent tablets will reveal the total and combined chlorine concentration. Zeroing is automatic and the zero setting is held in memory.

For use with quality assurance programmes, each Chlorometer is certified to conform to calibration standards. The DPD test method used with this meter conforms to the Standard Method 4500-C1-G, the American US EPA standard, and also conforms to other published standard methods.
