Palintest Helps Watch Over Angel's Fish

May 2005
When the owners of the new Angel of the North Fishing Lakes and Wildlife Sanctuary required fast, accurate water testing they turned to Palintest. The company?s new easy-to-use Photometer 8000 provides instant results on all the major inorganic constituents of water together with additives and pollutants. It enables a fast response to issues affecting fish welfare, providing peace of mind for the management.
The Angel of the North Fishing Lakes and Wildlife Sanctuary is a new complex of carp and coarse fishing lakes close to the famous Angel of the North sculpture near Gateshead. The three lakes extend over more than eight acres of water and fish welfare is of paramount importance to the management. With the Photometer 8000 they have access to instant results on water quality tests, such as nitrates, dissolved oxygen and pH, that are important for fish health.
Owner Ann Adlington says “It’s a really good piece of kit. Previously we had to pay for water tests and had to wait ten days for the results. Now we get the results immediately and if there’s something wrong we can act right away. I love it to pieces.”
The Photometer 8000 features a large, backlit touch-screen display and a simple menu-driven user interface. On-screen prompts are available to guide the user through all the measurement and test procedures. Up to 1000 test results can be logged with a record of the time, date and sample number. This can be downloaded to a computer database (or printer) so that trends in water composition can be monitored and routine quality assurance reports can be produced.
